My name is Simon Hurley, and I am studying computer science at Royal

Holloway University of London.

Our micromouse group has been working so hard over the last year to even

make an entrance into the competition and now we're at the point of finding

out what our competition is like and the capabilities of our mouse. Since

the 1999 competition, we have been talking non-stop with people about how

to improve it for next year. It would be such a shame to loose the adult

competition from this year onwards, because it generates so much

imagination and shows the potentials of robotics.

Our robot may of got stuck at the first corner of the competition trials,

so please can you keep the competition so that we may prove to ourselves

that all our efforts haven't been for nothing.

There were 2 or 3 others robots that did not manage to find the centre of

the maze, and they also had put in a lot of effort and workmanship to get

there robot to the competition. I'm sure that they would like to come back

next year and re-compete. Keeping the IEE Adult's competitions open would

be of great benefit to them as well.

When we were designing basic chassis's for our robots at the start, we were

designing line followers and wall huggers which were very successful. We

used these robots on our open days at university and they were a great

success. Maybe the IEE could allow university's to participate in these

competitions?

Ahhhh.........Go on. go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go

on.....Keep the competition......you will, you will, you will, you will,

you will, you will.
